Since we are still trying to get into climbing shape for next weekend, we decided to squeeze in a quick climb of another local mountain for Saturday afternoon. Kepros Mountain was the goal and it is just south of Spring Shores on Lucky Peak Reservoir. The normal, more popular, route starts to the south at Three Point Mountain and is a five mile walk to the peak. We chose to take the quicker steeper route by taking the boat across the reservoir. Once again, due to other obligations, we got a late start. But we did pick up another hiker, Dylan's buddy Max.

After a couple of hours we reached the summit. There was a new summit register that had been placed earlier that day. Too bad we didn't get to enjoy the views with the earlier hiker. Did I say how it was a gorgeous afternoon to be on top? We wolfed down some peanut butter and jelly sandwiches and snapped a few more photos before heading down.

It took us a little over a hour to get back to the boat from the summit, for a total time of 3.5 hours to complete the 5.75 mile hike with 2600 feet gain.
